Welcome to the Duxbury Braille Translator (DBT)! You are using the world's most popular braille production software. DBT was created to make braille production easier, and braille more accessible. DBT is used by virtually all of the world's leading braille publishers. No one supports more languages than Duxbury Systems - DBT supports braille translation for over 140 languages. DBT can produce contracted and uncontracted braille, mathematic braille, and technical braille.
Whether you are sighted or blind, DBT has many features which help you to use it easily and efficiently. Often your document comes from an outside source. DBT imports documents from many different file formats used by other software. It also imports braille documents. Click here for a longer list of features, such as importing tactile graphics. Thank you for choosing the Duxbury Braille Translator!
This is a good opportunity to explain a little about Duxbury software releases. The primary version numbers are written as ##.#. After a primary version has been released, there may be a service release, written as SR1, SR2, etc. The download of a service release is free to anyone who is entitled to the primary version that it is based on. In other words, if you purchased DBT 12.1, then you are entitled to get an internet download of DBT 12.1 SR1 for free.
From within DBT's Help Menu, the item Check for Updates is designed to tell you the latest about new Duxbury DBT releases.
The Welcome to DBT section consists of the following:
