Welcome to Perky Duck 12.6

Duxbury Systems welcomes you to Perky Duck!

As suggested by its name, Perky Duck is a software emulation of a Perkins Brailler that was created by Duxbury Systems as a teaching tool. Its primary function is to allow students learning braille transcription to create braille documents using six-key entry on a computer keyboard.

Though the capability is not universal, many computer keyboards allow "chording", that is, they recognize and respond to the pressing of multiple keys simultaneously.

Relying on such keyboards, Perky Duck provides the means to type braille material through six-key editing, which employs the keyboard in a manner analogous to a Perkins brailler.

Through Perky Duck, you may save braille files and send braille text to a regular printer or an embosser.
