As presented in the topic on Internationalization, a "braille encoding" is a direct one-to-one correspondence between individual braille cells and the computer characters that represent them. In North America, the standard braille encoding is called North American. Perky Duck normally uses the North American encoding to send ASCII characters to drive braille devices.
